I consider Team America as one of my favourite movies--really favourite. I generally like smart parodies--they are conveying people's opnion (usually what gets too dense/offensive to be raised in formal discussions) in a subtle way. The Simpsons Movie works for me,too!
I thought, before I did the investigation on it as an artifact, that everyone will LOVE this movie as I do. Because Team America is like, so brilliant and full of content! It is one of the best parody films on American Jingoism I have ever watched before; And the sarcasm about stereotypes of action films and even America as a country is brilliant, too. America F**k yeah is such a hilarious song!
Until the finding of the interview surprised me that one of my focus group member actually referred to it as "lacks content", I started to realized an important fact that different people DO think differently.
Of course the obvious conclusion is that a movie--or an artifact in general, can provoke different feelings in people, I feel the reason why I got all these various responses--dislike, despise,analytical...is because we, as humans each think independently.
This again leads to the cliche--I think therefore I am.We exist by our thinkings. I started to realize the diference in people's thinkings and therefore I have take other people's sides whenever differences arise.
